Service Description

Join Claire Willis Pottery (CWP) and Lake Forest Open Lands Environmental Educator AJ Morris for two or more sessions in the prairie and in the pottery studio! Engage with clay and natural found objects through hands-on project based learning activities. This seasonal collaboration is simple and joyful. Open to ten children ages 5-12 who will enjoy thoughtful engagement with Claire and AJ over the first two days of Spring Break. Morning Session: 9am-11:45 Afternoon Session: 12:45pm-3:30 Full Day Session: 9am-3:30pm Day 1~ Monday, March 25th Held at  Mellody Farm Nature Preserve, Lake Forest During Monday's sessions we’ll explore the natural world at Mellody Farm Nature Preserve. The children will take at least one Spring hike through the preserve. The hike and activities will be led by AJ Morris; an educator, naturalist, and the positive energy behind the environmental education program at Mellody Farm Nature Preserve. This will be an age appropriate educational and therapeutic nature walk and will take place rain or shine. We will also be choosing objects to include in pottery projects in the studio on Tuesday.  Day 2~ Tuesday, March 26th Held at Claire Willis Pottery Studio, Deerfield Day two, the children take all that they have experienced on the trail into the studio with Claire, where they will have an opportunity to use the natural materials collected the day before in their own creations. Claire’s wildly popular Claire Willis Pottery Studio will be devoted to these children for the entire day. Studio and outdoor clay and planting stations will be available for exploration, and students can expect to make at least one unique creation! Pottery pick up will be scheduled a minimum of two weeks after the workshop and communicated to participants.


Cancellation Policy

Claire Willis Pottery does not offer refunds for cancellations made 24 hour or less before lessons except for in the case of illness or emergency. Lessons Cancellations made up to 24 before a scheduled lesson will be rescheduled without a penalty but will be subject to availability. Lessons can be rescheduled easily in your member account. Classes Classes are non-refundable, however missed classes may be rescheduled for other class times based on availability during the session for which you registered. Missed classes are not transferrable to future sessions and may be made up only during the registered session unless arrangements have been made prior to registration.
