Internships at Claire Willis Studio are centered on deepening ones pottery practice. This program is an opportunity to have access to our studio, tools and equipment as well as guidance from Claire in exchange for work trade. Our internship program is open to all applicants 14 and older and welcomes all skill levels. We do not require a minimum stay although a commitment of 3 months or more is preferred. What is required is someone who is proactive, eager to learn and assist, and has a strong work ethic. This is an unpaid position.

 

Obligations

As an intern in our studio we require 4 hours of work trade per week. Time will be mostly comprised of loading and unloading the kiln, kiln maintenance glaze maintenance, general studio upkeep and cleaning, restocking of materials and assisting in classes and/or workshops as needed. Scheduling of assistance for classes and workshops will be posted at the beginning of each month.

 

Opportunities

Our interns have access to the studio during non-teaching hours whenever Claire is on the premise. You can expect at least 10 hours of personal time in the studio per week and will have access to our many tools, the kiln, and personal guidance from Claire. Clay is available for purchase through the studio.
